Artist's Comments

2/27/09:

Oh dear heavens.

Thank you SO much for a DD. I log on today and see I have over 850 messages and wondered what the heck happened.

Well. Now I know. Thank you for stopping by and giving my painting a chance.

And... haha, thank you for your wonderful comments and interesting points of view ;).

I can't stop grinning now.

:D THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN.

This is a finger painting. Yes it is.

I've had this canvas for a long time and it's been painted on and reprimed several times. There are at least five other painting underneath. But only one was produced that I was proud to show.

I was greatly inspired by a fellow student in my figure drawing class who created a very expressive piece. Since then I've been wanting to release that creative energy I've felt. So I did brush in a background, but then dove right into it with my hands.

I didn't mean to produce a tree. But. It just happened.

Maybe I'll create a series of finger painting on other, similarly sized, canvases, too.

Size: 30 X 40
Time: Approx 8 hrs over the course of two days
Media: Acrylic

That has such a nice warm feel to it! I like the streaks of lavender in the trunk and in the leaves, that's an intereseting effect. The leaves look quite animated, I can almost hear them! It's so awesome that this is finger-painted; there's definitely something to be said for having direct contact with your medium. I hope you do more of these, you seem to have a knack for it!

This must be the best finger paint I've ever seen...
most of the time you can't really tell what it is...
so you just humor the artist...
then again the artist is usually 4 or so....
that might have something to do with it...
but back to my original though wow good job..
XD

Oh, you can't help that. Most everyone's mad here.
You may have noticed that I'm not all there myself.

This is really an impressive piece, and even more so since it's a finger painting... Beautiful use of colors and wonderful atmosphere, truly deserving of the DD. I feel drawn in...
