Artist's Comments

Edit 9/07/08:

Replaced the matte image with the image before it was matted because it was sharper... and it just has a better impact.

This piece was put in the Student show at LSUS. My drawing teacher was able to matte it nicely for me.

18x24, charcoal, white charcoal, and stumps.

This piece reminded me why I love black and white.

Oh, you can't help that. Most everyone's mad here.
You may have noticed that I'm not all there myself.

Love the harsh shadows. It makes it very dramatic and mysterious.

Yeah I loved them in the reference, too. I love lots of drama in black and white portraits. Thank you for commenting!

I hope you have warm fuzzy feeling when you look at this piece, becaue you did a great job. the depth is consistent and pulls the eyes deep into it. Your white spaces are s white. How did you do that? Charcole isn't my main medium, but I like it. I smudge horribly! And lastly, what are stumps? :rose:
